Beginning January 1, 2025, we will be changing our rates here at Soma Massage Therapy. We also have an update on a new "cash discount" program we will be unveiling in the new year.
I didn't come to this decision lightly. I never got into the business of healing people because I wanted to get rich, and have always been intentional about wanting to make sure that massage was as accessible and as affordable to as many people as possible.
The last time we raised our rates was back in 2022, and believe it or not, it actually wasn't because of inflation (and DEFINITELY not due to corporate greed!). That 2022 rate change was due to the extra costs of operating in our new-and-improved building. I'm so proud that we were able to maintain our 2022 (not-inflation-related) rates over the past 3 years, despite the cost of everything increasing during that time.
As we can all relate to, over the past few years overhead costs have grown substantially: the price of supplies, insurance, utilities, payroll, card processing fees, and other expenses have all contributed to this necessary price adjustment.
Even with these new rates, when compared to other massage studios in the area, Soma is still the most cost-effective around: not only are our rates still below what the majority of studios and spas charge (especially when you factor in the tip expected at the other places), we still provide a FULL 60 minute hour massage and still maintain our no-tipping policy.
Some things are NOT changing. Here's what's staying the same:
- Cupping, hot stones, sports, reflexology, and craniosacral upgrades will all still remain the same rate
- When you book an hour massage, you will still receive a full 60 minutes of hands-on time.
- We still do not -- and never will! -- accept tips. Massage therapists are healthcare workers and should be paid and treated as such. (After all, when was the last time you tipped your chiropractor or physical therapist?)
Here's what's changing:
- All massages are changing in price. A 1-hour massage will now be $90 (compared to $80 in 2024). Please note that this is our cash discount rate. More information on this below!
- Aromatherapy will adjust from $5 to $10
- Lymphatic upgrades will adjust from $10 to $20

- We will have a new pricing structure for packages: we are working on offering 6 packs, 12 packs, and 24 packs, with increasing discounts for each tier. More information is forthcoming, so stay tuned!

- Due to the ever increasing costs of card transactions, we will be offering a Cash Discount Program to encourage more cash payments.
- This change helps us offset rising card processing fees, which have increased significantly over the years. This way, we’re able to keep costs manageable and continue providing the level of service you expect and deserve.
- The rates listed on our website are our "cash discount" prices. We will continue to accept all major cards. If you prefer to pay by card there will be a small non-cash adjustment of 3%.
- We understand this is a change, and we want to be as transparent as possible. Thank you for your continued support and loyalty.

All unexpired gift certificates and 6 packs will still be honored at their full value in 2025. Beyond the expiration date, we will still honor your gift cards and packages at their dollar (not time) value, so an additional fee may be charged to make up the difference in price.

I'd pay them a million bucks if I could, but then you probably couldn't afford to come here anymore. So $90/hour seemed like a good compromise 🙂
