What if you don’t have a business plan?
That was my reality when I started Soma Massage Therapy. I didn’t sit down with a 5-year plan, a detailed spreadsheet, or all the answers. I started the business, learned what I needed to learn, made plenty of mistakes, asked a LOT of questions, and figured it out as I went.
I recently joined Leslie Boyce and several other entrepreneurs on The Fitness of Business for a conversation about what it really takes to start and grow a business—and whether having a business plan before you begin is actually necessary.
For me, entrepreneurship has always been more about learning by doing than having everything mapped out in advance. And after building Soma into a thriving business, I’ve learned that not knowing everything at the beginning isn’t necessarily a disadvantage. Sometimes it’s simply the starting point.
